ABOUT THE ARTIST

Kristin L. Murphy

I'm an artist based in Conway, Arkansas, with a lifelong love of creating. My mom is also an artist, so I naturally picked up skills from her. Growing up, I took watercolor classes with local artist Shelia Parsons. I have a background in graphic design and worked in that field for over a decade. While working as a designer, I started painting on the side as a way to return to creating art. I hadn’t painted throughout my 20s and found myself wanting to reconnect with the kind of creativity that felt most natural to me.

Watercolor is my primary medium—it’s where I feel most comfortable. I also paint with acrylic on canvas, leaning into a more abstract impressionist style, while my watercolor paintings tend to focus on finer details. I don’t like to put myself in a box as an artist; I enjoy painting with different mediums and subject matter.

I offer commissions, original artwork, and fine art prints. I also teach painting classes that are relaxed and open to all skill levels. My goal is to create a space where people can explore their creativity without pressure.

Painter

Painting has been a part of my life since childhood, and watercolor is where I feel most at ease. When painting with acrylics, I'm drawn towards vibrant colors on canvas, painting on an easel handmade by my dad when I was a teenager.

Art Educator

In 2024, I began teaching art, sharing my love for painting with students in a fun and casual environment. My classes are designed to inspire creativity without pressure, encouraging students to embrace their unique artistic journeys. I believe in giving yourself grace, enjoying the process, and creating art that feels authentic to you.

Writer

Writing is a way to express the emotions and thoughts I can’t always verbalize. While I stepped away from writing for much of my 20s and 30s, I've recently rediscovered its importance in my life. Writing not only deepens my connection to my art but also gives me another essential outlet for expressing my emotions and creativity.

Inspired By

Music, travel, nature, and life's small moments are my greatest sources of inspiration. Music influences my abstract pieces, while my traditional pieces are inspired by the places I’ve been and the beauty in simple, fleeting moments. The time I spend outside my studio is what inspires me most and always draws me back to creating.

My work speaks to those who value authenticity, creativity, and a deep connection to the world around them—whether it's through a meaningful song or a walk through nature.
